THANKFUL

HAPPY THANKSGIVING | THANKFUL BB STYLE

Happy Thanksgiving!!! I wanted to take a quick moment on this day of eating and festivities to reflect on how THANKFUL I am to all of my readers and supporters of me and BB Style! It has been an incredible year and I THANK my husband, family, friends and amazing people I have met through new adventures this year. I cannot express enough how grateful I am to have such amazing people in my life who's love and support means everything to me. For loyal readers and new readers, THANK YOU, you keep me motivated and excited to continue blogging!

I wanted to share one of my favorite toasts that I found on Pinterest a few years ago ( I can never locate the source, if someone knows please let me know) and have used at many occasions celebrating exciting milestones with my favorite people. It is so fitting for celebrating many different things and says so much. As we celebrate Thanksgiving today, I toast to celebrating the holidays with the those who matter most and recognizing all that we are oh so THANKFUL for!

Have an amazing Thanksgiving!

Becky Johnson of Annachich Jewelry | BB Style

Happy Thanksgiving week!! I cannot believe the holidays are here. Speaking of holiday shopping, I wanted to share a spotlight of local SF jewelry designer and friend, Becky Johnson! She is the founder and designer of Annachich Jewelry, and just launched a beautiful capsule collection inspired by a historical SF landmark, the Phelen building in downtown SF.

Becky is a graphic designer turned jewelry designer in San Francisco, CA. She interned under Master Goldsmith Alan Revere in 2012. Her metal work is incredible and unique! Her pieces are made with so much love and would make amazing gifts or be a great addition to your own collection. I am in love with 5 hex cuff and Dot Pendant Necklace!

Here is a little bit more details about Annachich, the newly launched Capsule Collection and her fascinating historical inspiration.

Annachich Jewelry emphasizes architectural ornamentation and the preservation of ornate details. Becky designs and hand-fabricates all Annachich Jewelry in her San Francisco studio. Annachich was named in honor of her grandmother, an artistic force who liked crocheting and playing the slots (how cute is that!)

"My Capsule Collection is the Phelan building. I took images of the ceiling tiles and marble architectural details and I turned them into jewelry. I want every piece to feel as if it were unearthed from your grandmother’s jewelry box." -Becky Johnson

Erected in 1907, the historic Phelan building is an admired piece of downtown San Francisco. In 2012, the artistic community that thrived in Phelan for well over three decades was torn apart. The Revere Academy of Jewelry Arts was one of many tenants evicted without cause. Becky was working at the school at the time of the eviction. As the tenants were forced out, the marble walls and oak halls were destroyed on many floors by the building's new owners.

This special collection of jewelry is to preserve the story and soul of Phelan. Created from architectural replicas of the building's unique elements, Becky created custom components that were hand-fabricated into finished jewelry in her San Francisco studio.

She is such an inspiring artist! Shop local and shop this new collection from Annachich now and receive 20% off + free shipping through 12/1 (code: SHOPEARLY)

Holiday Cards with Minted

It's my favorite time of year, holiday cards!!! My love for stationary and design is fulfilled during the holidays with the fun task of sending holiday cards. This can be a daunting task to most, growing up it was always a huge production to get our holiday card picture so my mom could get the process of putting together our family holiday cards. Sometimes it was a New Years card :) (love you mom!)

I found Minted a few years ago and was hooked after falling in love with their quality and elevated design. We did our first photo holiday card with minted the year before we got engaged and has now become a tradition every year. I always look forward to sifting through all of the amazing designs and choosing a personalized and festive card.

I've loved seeing the evolution of Minted's assortment.  Not only do they make it incredible easy to navigate their website and customize your card, (or any of their products) but they have SO many amazing designs from independent indie designers from all the world. (learn more here) I love the "find it fast" feature, where you can add your photo and it will display in every photo card in the category you're looking at, making it easy to see your photo in different designs.

They've also expanded into many other categories beyond stationary and cards (their wedding invitations are amazing as well); invitations for baby & kids, birth announcements,  art, gift wrap, business cards, party decor and many other personalized gifts (everything is customizable)!! I actually did my business cards and stationary with minted and continue to receive compliments on the design!! Can you tell I'm obsessed!!!

This year Minted stepped up their game (again) on some incredible new features in the holiday card category making it even harder to decide.

  • Foil Stamped Cards
  • Envelope Liners, return address label
  • Holiday Card ornaments and postcards (too cute!)
  • Double think paper
  • Free Addressing service (such a time saver!!)
  • They also have party decor, gift wrap and gifts that you are able to personalize

For our card this year we were able to do a fun fall shoot with my favorite Matt Edge Photography, this made choosing our holiday photo card so much fun again this year! (more to come on that shoot tomorrow!) I went with one of the beautiful new gold foil photo cards and added a backer to share a holiday wish and another photo!

Check out our final product and take advantage of an amazing promotion Minted is running right now to order your own! 10% off orders of $100 or more and 15% off orders of $150 or more ending today (code BELLS) OR a promotion starting tomorrow for 15% off through 11/26 (code15RCP).

A big thank you to Matt Edge for taking amazing photos for us, look out for the full feature tomorrow!!

Get the Look | Sweater + Skinnies

I'm back! From the beach from no shoes on sand, beach hair and no makeup last week, to full blown Fall weather sweaters and jackets in the city this week. What a transition! I had an amazing trip and time spent with my family. Now jumping back into Fall style I found this image a couple weeks ago on Pinterest and loved everything about it. I knew I had to share how to get this look!

This outfit is casual yet sassy! I'm loving chunky knits, actually back into turtlenecks. Fall style at it's best showing the perfect way to spice up a traditional sweater in my favorite casual chic way.

Get the look by styling a chunky turtleneck with dark super skinny jeans, edgy boots (flats or heels), statement earrings and a great bag!

Fall Nails

 image

I hope you had a great weekend friends and good start to the week! There is definitely a chill in the air, leaves on the ground, and scarves & boots are out and about. I'm loving all of the Fall styles and feel more inspired to layer and incorporate jewel tone colors. I love, not only wearing fall colors in with my clothes and accessories, but also on my nails! I've been recommending some great new fall nail colors to my friends, so I thought a Fall nail post to share with everyone will help you decide on stepping outside of your usual go to colors to try something new. I am a huge fan of Essie's fall/winter collection as well as OPI's San Francisco Collection. My picks (and colors I'm going for) this fall are greens (either deep turquoise or emerald), oxblood, navy, metallic and gunmetal grey and traditional red.

The Secret to Style

The Secret to Style | BB Style

There are many different tips and tricks you read about in magazines, blogs and books about style secrets. When you break all of them down and analyze the roots of these secrets it all leads back to the most important one.. CONFIDENCE!

This is easier said than done, many women and men suffer with low self confidence for different a variety of different reasons, not related to style. We are our own worst critics,  and it is easy to get down on yourself about this and that, analyzing what you look like. Taking a step back from other factors in your life that are weighing on you and realizing that style can be a boost in confidence will take the pressure off the negative feelings you have about what you're wearing or look like. Personal style is about you and your self expression.

Being confident and comfortable in your body is the best kept style secret. Feeling good about yourself shines through other aspects of your life. There are many amazing books and articles to help with the underlying issues behind insecurities, I am definitely not in an expert. As far as style goes there are some really simple and fun tips you can try to instantly boost your style confidence and feel confident and excited about your style. Take it one step at a time, branch out and really try to have fun and own your style. Take pressure off yourself, have fun with your style and own it!

Tips to Boost your Style Confidence >>

  • Add color!! Branch out and try a new color that looks good on you. Doesn’t have to be bold, can even be a bright necklace, colored skirt or shoes in a pop color.
  • Always portray your best self.  Even if you’re working from home or just taking your kids to school make an effort to get dressed, dry your hair and wear makeup (even if it’s just a lip gloss). You’ll feel ready to take anything on.
  • Wear heels. They don’t have to be really tall.. but putting on any kind of heel instantly makes you feel chic. I am usually a flats girl but when i wear a little heel I have a confident feminine feeling
  • Remember Dark colors minimize and de-emphasize and Light colors (as well as bright) maximize, expand and highlight. Use these to draw attention to your best assets and camouflage areas you’re self conscious about.
  • Accessorize to add interest and complete any outfit. Have fun with accessories, they can accentuate your style personality with a few easy additions to a simple outfit!!
  • Invest in shape wear and new undergarments that make you feel sexy.
  • Purge clothes from your closet that don’t fit or flatter your body or lifestyle. Having them take up room in your closet will weigh on you and make it harder to get dressed and feel confident about what you’re wearing. Clear the clutter!! (Little fact.. you can clean out 25% of your closet by asking yourself “would I buy this item if I were shopping today?”)
  • Try trends gradually , as you feel comfortable branching out and shop your closet to mix in items you have with new trendy pieces.
  • Dress for you!! Be inspired by others but dress for your style personality.
  • Feel good in your body and love your shape!!

Favorite Links of the Week | BB Style

Check out some of my favorite finds from around the web this week!  I've also been pinning up a storm to get inspiration for Fall outfits. My fav of the week is a street style look incorporating a black moto jacket, a stirpe shirt and oxblood pants. I love the way she mixed different elements and colors; combining classic  pieces and edgy updates.  Definitely a look I want to duplicate in my own way.

Edgy pieces can be intimidating, they can also be a refreshing addition to your wardrobe if you wear more classic styles. There are easy ways to add in some edgy pieces into your wardrobe without completely changing your style personality.

Two great edgy pieces that I'm loving for fall that would be easy to incorporate into you closet are the Oxblood Moto Jacket and Studded Shoes. Oxblood is one of Fall's hot colors, you'll see it in pants, dresses, skirts, lip colors.. but my personal favorite is oxblood leather (or faux leather). This color is so easy to wear with navy, grey, black, neutrals and metallics. As for studs, the Valentino Rockstud collection is popular among fashion influencers and bloggers. They have different styles (heels and flats) and are the perfect balance of feminine and edgy and look great with anything from jeans to a chic dress. These bold so wearing with more neutral classic pieces create a great balance.

These pieces (leather and Valentino) can be pricey, I've got some great options for you at different price points! I'm also showing you how to wear these edgy fall pieces. Balance the edgy bold jacket or shoes with feminine details and textured tops worn with something classic and clean on the bottom.

Try something new and have fun with it!
